Maryhill Housing provides support to two local Community Councils.
Community Councils are voluntary bodies which must be consulted with by, for example, Glasgow City Council.
The general purpose of a Community Council is to find out, co-ordinate and express the wider views of the entire community within its agreed boundaries. They can compliment the role of the Council but are not part of it.
Recognised Community Councils, unlike other community organisations, are included in the consultation process for all planning applications. They have the right to receive copies of applications and are recognised as competent bodies to make representations about applications.
Maryhill & Summerston Community Council meet on the second Tuesday of each month at Community @ Maryhill, base of 29 Glenavon Road.
Ruchill Community Council meet on the first Wednesday of each month at Ruchill Community Centre, 671 Bilsland Drive, Glasgow, G20 9NF.
