Maryhill Housing provides support to two local Community Councils.
Community councils are voluntary bodies which much be consulted with by, for example, Glasgow City Council.
The general purpose of a community council is to find out, co-ordinate and express the wider views of the entire community within its agreed boundaries. They can complement the role of the Council but are not part of it.
Recognised community councils, unlike other community organisations, are included in the consultation process for all planning applications. They have the right to receive copies of applications are be recognised as competent bodies to make representations about applications.
Maryhill & Summerston Community Council meet on the second Tuesday of each month at the Community Flat, 71 Glenavon Road, flat 1/1, Glasgow, G20 0HP.
