The Warm Home Discount Scheme is now open for a number of electricity providers.
The Warm Home Discount Scheme is a Government-run scheme that is paid by your energy supplier. If you qualify they will award you £140 towards your electricity bill.
If you are receiving Pension Credit Guaranteed Credit you will be entitled to this payment and you don’t need to apply. A letter will be sent to you by the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) from October 2019. This letter will explain how to claim your £140 payment.
If you are not in receipt of Pension Credit Guaranteed Credit you will not get this payment automatically. You will need to apply to your electricity company or you will miss out. The qualifying criteria may be different for each supplier.
You will need your electricity account number to apply online. Please note that it may take suppliers until 31st March 2020 to process applications and apply the rebate to your account.
