The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced when Universal Credit and other benefits claimants will be paid over Christmas and New Year.

Some Maryhill Housing customers may receive their payments on a different day because of the festive season.

Payments due on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day will be paid early.

Payment changes will affect customers receiving the following benefits: Universal Credit, Employment & Support Allowance (ESA), Jobseekers’ Allowance (JSA), Income Support, Tax Credits, Attendance Allowance, State Pension, Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Pension Credit and Personal Independence Payments (PIP).

Customers who usually receive payments on the following dates will receive their money on the new dates below:

  • Payment due: Wednesday 25th December 2019 - New payment received: Tuesday 24th December 2019

  • Payment due: Thursday 26th December 2019 - New payment received: Tuesday 24th December 2019

  • Payment due: Wednesday 1st January 2020 - New payment received: Tuesday 31st December 2019.

Customers who do not receive their benefits payments on the revised dates should contact the relevant benefit department (please see the list of telephone numbers below). You must do this by Tuesday 24th December at the latest as you will not be able to speak to DWP staff during the Christmas bank holiday.
