      Triumph for Maryhill Housing as
       Association scoops top award!

October 30 2017
Maryhill Housing’s support for our communities has been recognised with a top award.
The Association has triumphed in the keenly-contested Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland Excellence Awards.
We won the prize for having a “Real Sense of Community” in the Excellence in Skills Development category.
Chief Executive Bryony Willett said the win was an “overwhelming endorsement” of the commitment to community and staff skill development at Maryhill.
And Bryony said it was the “perfect birthday present” in Maryhill’s 40th  anniversary year.
The Award was announced at a  glittering ceremony in Edinburgh on Friday.
In our submission for the Award, we set out how we have endeavoured to “Inspire Passion in People” which can be defined in a number of ways.
Over £1000 is invested in each staff member’s training and development each year.
The Association’s apprenticeship scheme has been a particular success and over the past two years the number of apprenticeships and traineeships it offers has risen from zero to ten. This represents over 10 per cent of the Association’s staff.
We have been at the forefront of delivering real change in the Maryhill and Ruchill areas where we have our housing stock.
This includes building allotments so people can grow their own food, running cookery sessions and offering craft- making classes.
Bryony added: “We are committed to developing a passionate staff team AND delivering real improvements which enhance the lives of people living in our
communities. We are delighted to have won this Award and, coming as it does in our 40th anniversary year, it makes the success even more special.”
