Police Scotland has contacted us to advise that there is a Bogus Caller operating within the Maryhill area who seems to be targeting elderly residents.
Two elderly female residents have been approached at their front door just after midnight where a young female claimed to be from a personal alarm company checking on their alarm systems. On these occasions the female did not gain entry to any property.
Another resident answered her door around midnight to a female who requested a glass of water and gained entry to a flat where she stole a handbag.
This is particularly frightening for elderly residents and unfortunately we do not have a clear description of the people involved.
There are useful tips on how to deal with bogus callers on Police Scotland website
• Please be vigilant and careful.
• Think twice before answering your door particularly late at night.
• Look out for your elderly neighbours by making sure they are safe.
• If you see anything suspicious please contact Police Scotland on 101
